Chief Executive Officer
Simon Potter qualified as a geologist with an M.Sc. in Management Science, has over 30 years oil and gas industry and mining sector experience. From the Zambian Copperbelt to a 20-year career with BP he has held executive roles in companies managing oil and gas exploration, development and production; gas processing, sales and transport; LNG manufacture, marketing and contracting in Europe, Russia, America, Africa and Australasia. On leaving BP, having helped create TNK-BP, he took up the role of CEO at Hardman Resources where he oversaw growth of the AIM and ASX listed Company into an oil producer and considerable exploration success ahead of executing a corporate sale to Tullow Oil. After running his own consultancy he joined Arrow Energy International as CEO and following the sale of Arrow Energy to Shell and PetroChina launched their international assets onto the ASX as the separately listed Dart Energy. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 17 October 2011.
Eytan is a finance executive with significant oil and gas industry experience. He has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, general corporate advisory work, oil and gas industry-specific experience in public market takeovers and transactions, private treaty acquisitions and farm-in / farm-out transactions. He has held executive roles in various ASX and SGX listed companies.
Prior to working with BPC, from 2009 – 2014 Eytan was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer of Dart Energy Limited, an ASX listed company that had unconventional gas assets (coal bed methane and shale gas) in Australia, Asia and Europe, and Chief Commercial Officer of its predecessor company, Arrow International Ltd, a Singapore based company that had unconventional gas asset primarily in Asia and Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of New South Wales, and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1997.
Eytan has been Commercial Director of BPC since 2015.
Finance Director and Company Secretary
With a physics degree from Imperial College London, Ben Proffitt qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007 with BDO, working in their audit team with a focus on AIM listed resource clients. In 2008 Ben joined Renewable Energy Holdings plc to manage their wave energy intellectual property development in Australia before joining Bahamas Petroleum Company plc in 2010.
Randolph (Randy) Hiscock has 30+ years Upstream experience acquired through various technical and managerial roles with Shell, Talisman and EnCana (PanCanadian). He has Masters of Science / MBA degrees from Memorial University in Canada.
Randy joined Bahamas Petroleum Company after 10 years with Shell as the Manager of New Ventures & Business Development, Americas based in Houston and The Hague.
Previously, Randy was VP Exploration Latin America for EnCana (PanCanadian) and was located in Calgary for 19 years.
He has worked extensively in Latin America and the Caribbean for ~ 20 years, leading to major offshore discoveries in Guyana and Brazil. Also, he stewarded new county entries in Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guyana, Colombia and Argentina and has evaluated over 300+ new venture opportunities.
Nathan is a qualified Petroleum Engineer with over 20 years experience leading technical and operational teams globally. Nathan’s early career has included engineering and technical management positions with Santos, Origin, Addax Petroleum and Arrow Energy where he was the General Manager of Petroleum Engineering leading up to the acquisition by Shell and PetroChina. Since 2010 he has been the Chief Operating Officer of a number of publicly listed oil and gas companies including Dart Energy (China, Indonesia, India and UK), Sunbird Energy (South Africa) and Armour Energy (Australia). In each of these roles he has been responsible for the safe delivery of all exploration, appraisal, development and production operations.
Senator Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis
In-House Legal Counsel
JoBeth holds an LLM in Energy Law and Policy from the University of Dundee in Scotland. She gained her dual Bachelor of Law degree with Business Management at Keele University, UK and completed her bar vocational course at Nottingham Trent University. JoBeth has worked for Bank of Nova Scotia as a contracted Compliance Officer for 5yrs, working alongside Bank Lawyers and the Financial Services Commission (FSC) to ensure organisations were efficiently and effectively adhering to laws and regulations. She was responsible for commercial customers of the Bank, carrying out due diligence, risk management and inspections of their operations for compliance with the financial policy of the FSC. JoBeth has excellent knowledge of the legal system in The Bahamas, including the Petroleum Act and Regulations. She is responsible for compliance and risk management of Bahamas Petroleum Company licences, Government relations and works closely with the management team to advise on legal and commercial risks associated with day to day business operations. She is also a member of AIPN and regularly attends conferences to remain aware of new developments in International Petroleum Law and Contracts. JoBeth served on the board of “Real Property Tax Appeal Tribunal” during July 1st, 2012-June 30th 2017. In addition, JoBeth has recently been appointed a Senator in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Jane Bond has 25 years’ experience as a Geoscientist in Petrophysics and Reservoir Engineering. Jane has a BSc in Geology and Mathematics and an MSc in Geophysics. She has worked as the Lead Reservoir Engineer/Senior Geoscientist for Ophir Energy, Lead Reservoir Engineer for Reliance, Senior Geoscientist, Reservoir Engineer and Petrophysicist for Woodside/Shell. Jane is based between Bahamas and Asia.
Roberta Quant has been working with Bahamas Petroleum Company approximately two years and is responsible for ensuring that health, safety and environmental policies are maintained to the highest international standards, to oversee environmental studies for oil and gas exploration (EIA, EMP, Oil Spill, etc.) and to promote activities of the Company throughout The Bahamas and to liaise with the Government of The Bahamas on environmental matters. She has worked in the environmental field for nine years and previously worked with the Bahamas Environment, Science and Technology (BEST) Commission where she provided advice to the Government of The Bahamas in the areas of environmental issues and policy development.
David Thomas has worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for over 23 years, in both Onshore and Offshore projects. Working through the medium of Mudlogging, MWD, Wellsite Geologist and as an Operations Geologist.
He started his career in the UK North Sea where he worked for 10 years in the UK Northern, Central and Southern sectors and Offshore Shetlands. During this time, he was also involved in work in Italy, Holland, Russia and Vietnam. This was followed by 12 years working in the Middle East. UAE, Kurdistan (Iraq), Oman, Yemen and Kuwait as a Wellsite or Operations Geologist. And more recently working Offshore Suriname, South America.
David has an extensive career in Offshore Drilling and Completions around the world. He has demonstrated the capability to manage several remote start up deepwater drilling operations in Australia – Timor Sea and Africa – Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon Tanzania and Senegal. David developed the Technical Limit drilling methodology to safely improve drilling and completion performance. He managed the first use of Surface BOPs on a DP drill rig to extend the rig’s water depth capability to over 1,500m. He has provided Technical Limit consultancy to BG, Shell, Santos and Beach Energy.
Richard Turner has 50 years of experience since graduation from Marietta (Ohio) College with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. After working in the US Gulf of Mexico offshore for his first 11 years, Richard then worked internationally between the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. He has provided drilling engineering, operations, advisory, and management to a variety of large and small oil companies. Projects have been onshore, offshore shallow water, and offshore deep water. Richard was the Project Manager for Ophir Energy exploratory drilling projects for four African countries. Each project achieved the subsurface and cost goals in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
Senior Drilling Supervisor
Greg has over 35 years’ experience as a Drilling Superintendent/Supervisor. He spent the early years of his career moving through a number of operational and management roles relocating from the UK to The Netherlandsthen Western Australia. He joined Woodside Petroleum in 1995 as a Drilling Engineer, during this time he gained valuable drilling experience on the North West Shelf and later in Woodside’s International Operations in West Africa. Greg then worked internationally on a variety of deepwater exploration and development projects for a number of different Operators large and small. He has extensive drilling operations experience in the Asia Pacific region, East Africa and many West African countries.
Bill has over 39 years international experience as a Drilling Supervisor in the Offshore and Onshore Oil and Gas drilling industry. Bill has held senior positions with Anadarko Petroleum, ConocoPhillips and Ophir Energy, he is experienced in a multi-discipline environment with a thorough understanding of the technical and operational risks associated with the delivery of wells. He has worked on numerous operations in Africa, India, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil, Falklands and Grenada.
Mike has over 35 years of international drilling expertise. He has been manager, supervisor and engineer for projects in deep water, self, HTHP, barge and onshore. Mike has extensive African/remote location experience and has gained HSE excellence throughout his career. He has worked as Consultant Drilling Supervisor for Kosmos Energy, Reposol, Camac Energy, Anadarko, Ophir and Conoco.
Buzz has over 35 years’ experience in the Oilfield Industry both onshore and offshore. Working domestically and internationally he has gained a unique and broad range of experience in all aspects of administration, cost control and material control related to the Oil and Gas Industry. Buzz has been Logistics Manager for major Oil and Gas companies in projects around the world such as Kosmos Energy – Ghana, Lukoil – West Africa, Devon Energy – China and Murphy West Africa. He brings a wealth of logistics experience to Bahamas Petroleum Company.
Rodney is a Logistics Professional with more than 20 years of experience within three continents and 20 countries. He has extensive experience overseeing all aspects of daily operations of a global freight shipment hub, including cross-dock operations and creation of customs documents. Well-developed skills supervising a team of up to 30 employees, managing global provider performances, working cross-functionally with multiple internal teams to provide logistics support for customers, reviewing carrier and logistics changes, discussing cycle time monitoring reports, and resolving customer issues as necessary. He is a dedicated leader with excellent communication skills and has a proven track record of success implementing new processes and systems that increase operational efficiency, improve customer delivery times and satisfaction, and reduce costs. Rodney has worked domestically, internationally, onshore, and offshore.
John has over 40 years’ experience in Logistics Coordination within International oil and gas new venture start-ups. He has supervised and coordinated bid development, negotiations and implementation of performance-based contracts for exploration, appraisal and development drilling programmes in the energy sector. John has considerable experience setting up operations in foreign countries, delivering contracts with service providers on schedule and on budget.
